Amint azt a blog elején írtam, Pintér Tünde kolléganőmmel egy időben voltunk Angliában továbbképzésen, csak ő Exeterben, Anglia dél-nyugati részén, a tengernél volt. Íme az ő oklevele:

Infografikák

A minap folytattuk a Yorkban elkészült óratervem a hatodikosaimmal. Beregisztráltunk a canva.com honlapra, ahol infografikát kellett készíteniük. A téma a korábban feldolgozott, QR kóddal elolvasott, majd cram flashcardokkal begyakoroltatott 6Rs volt. Tehát Reuse, Recycle, Refuse, Reduce, Repair és Rethink.

Back to School

Második nap a szünet után. Bátorságot vettem, és kipróbáltam a Yorkban megtervezett óra egy részét az egyik osztályommal és egy másik weboldalt egy másik csapattal. A visszajelzések jók! A téma azért elég nehéz volt, de itt most nem is ezen volt a hangsúly, hanem hogy tudjuk-e, tudják-e használni a tervezett és készített programokat úgy, ahogy az a fejemben megvolt.

Természetesen van, ami még döcög, illetve több időt kell hagynom a különböző weboldalakra történő bejelentkezésekhez, esetleg appok letöltéséhez, vagy akár egy weboldal megkereséséhez, de ez csupán idő és gyakorlat, amire nekem is, a diákoknak is szüksége van. Nyolcadikban azért már flottabbul mennek a dolgok, persze velük harmadik éve dolgozom, és nem először használunk mobileszközt órán.

The last day we started with animations, I mean, making animations. We checked 2 websites for that, Animaker, which is quite complex, and Dvolver, which I found more amusing. I guess the second, which is an easy kind of animation making will be perfect for kids.

The project, for today, and this is what we are working on right now, is to prepare a lesson or a set of lessons and show how you would use the techniques you've learned here.

What I did is a lesson for my 6th graders about recycling. After brainstorming about environmental protection on answergarden.ch, I'll give them a QR Code with a video to watch about plastic in the ocean.

In the video 2 other QR codes are hidden - the first takes you to a website about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. That is a scan reading exercise with a Google Forms Quiz (I made it) while reading.

After that the video goes on and mentions the topic of the 6Rs. That's where another Code is generated for them to read on BBC's website about what the 6Rs are. It's just a short gasp, then getting back to the video and finishing it, they'll see it clearly what these numbers-letters mean.

To practice the vocabulary met here I prepared a CRAM flashcard set. Here they can memorize the 6 new words, test themselves and play as well.

Finally, infographics should be created. Students are given an example, a sample actually, that they have to use and make their own infograpics about the previously learned 6Rs. This is it :)

Napjaink

Ez a bejegyzés magyarul készül el, biztos, ami biztos :) Bár semmi gondom nincs a családdal, nagyon kedves nő, Sharon, és a férje, Chris. Már az nagyon klassz volt, hogy kijöttek elém a vasútállomásra vasárnap, amikor megérkeztem. Nem Yorkban élnek, hanem egy falunak hívott helyiségben, Strensallban, de minden bizonnyal Yorkhoz tartozik valamilyen úton-módon. Mindez azért jó, mert hihetetlen nyugalom van, csend, minden amit látsz és hallasz, tipikusan angol. Az egyetlen hátránya, hogy majd' 30 percet kell buszoznom (és onnan még 10-et sétálnom, gyors tempóban), hogy beérjek a suliba. Ez azért elég sok, korán kell kelni, bár mindig figyelem az embereket, hallgatom őket, nézem a tájat, szóval próbálom kihozni a maximumot belőle.
A táj zöld, a házak pedig elég nyomasztóan ugyanolyanok amúgy. Hosszú távon nem bírnám :) Ugyanazok a vörös téglából épített házak, stílusban ugyanolyanok, kicsi előkerttel, ahová általában beparkolnak a kocsival (bár van garázs is, de az valami másnak tartják fenn tutira), a bejárati ajtó kvázi közvetlenül elérhető az utcáról. Hipp-hopp és már kopognak is az ajtódon, vagy benéznek az ablakodon. Nekem ez félelmetes, de itt ez a természetes. Betörők errefelé nem sétálgatnak csak úgy. Minden nappali az utcára néz és teljesen be lehet látni, nem függönyözik be magukat egyáltalán. Mondjuk épp ma este így ismertem meg a házunkat - ma jöttem először haza sötétben, és majdnem elmentem a ház mellett, amikor ismerős lett hirtelen a nappali :)
Felfelé építkeznek, a kert nem fontos, bár itt ami van, az szép, de általában minden ház kétszintes és gyanítom, belülről ugyanaz a forma. Bejáratnál lépcső az emeletre, mindenhol vastag padlószőnyeg. Amikor Londonban voltunk az iskolával tavaly, ott ugyanez volt. Manchesterben, ahol eltöltöttem egy éjszakát, mielőtt ide jöttem, ugyanez.

Íme a kertünk az ablakomból:

Szóval a család: nyugdíjasok, de aktívak nagyon, önkénteskednek, segítenek, ahol tudnak. Állandóan teát isznak. Állandóan. Tejjel. Ahogy az a nagykönyvben meg van írva :)
Reggelire gabonapehely, esetleg toast (már áttértem erre ma reggeltől, mert az ízesítésmentes és nyilván nagyon egészséges pelyhektől már rosszul vagyok). Ebédet magunknak kell megoldani, többnyire az olaszokkal és egy német lánnyal ülünk be valahová - voltunk pub-ban, indiai étteremben, ma olaszban. Az árakat átszámolni nem szabad, az előre letervezett költségvetésünkkel kell gazdálkodni! Természetesen a mi árainkhoz képest az éttermek drágák, de ez van. Vacsora este hatkor - ma már kihagytam, mert nem szoktam meg, hogy ennyit egyek egy nap, pláne meleget - de szokásos brit ételek kerültek eddig az asztalra. Fish&chips, sausage with mashed peas and potatoes and, of course, gravy, de volt chilli con carne és bolognai is, gondolom azért, mert ezeket általában szereti mindenki. Azt hiszem, lesz pizza is.

Lasagne a mai olasz étteremből, kemencében sütve. Nagyon finom volt!

Szintén Mumbai, csirkemell, nem tudom, milyen mártásban, de hihetetlen finom volt!

Negyedik nap

Háááát... azt kell mondjam, mára kipurcant a társaság. De lehet, hogy csak az időjárás :) Mindannyian elfáradtunk, főleg azok, akik a második hetet tapossák. Ülünk csendben és kattintgatunk. Rick meg mondja a magáét, aktív nagyon, de ez nem baj, ez a dolga. Legalább nem alszunk el, de tényleg.

Today we started with something not too easy. We downloaded SHOTCUT to edit videos and our task was to find a video on Youtube, download it, and create exercises around it, mainly insert them via QR Codes. Cutting, inserting was not as easy as it seems. My QR tasks included a Google Form quiz at the end of the video and a menu from a York takeaway where students should check the prices for some dishes.

Now we are working with TED. First, we simply found a video we liked and customized it, which means we just used the questions, the think and discussion points already prepared by someone.
Second, we found a video on Youtube, inserted it to edTed and created our own lesson around it. It takes much more time, of course, but it might worth it.

Day 3

Már szerda van. Gyorsan telik az idő. És azt kell mondjam, hasznosan is. Ma csupa olyan dologgal foglalkoztunk eddig, amivel ugyan már találkoztam, de nem tudtam, hogyan kell használni és legfőképpen, hogy miért :)

The most emphasis was put on Augmented Reality. I was really happy about it since I knew what it was but I had no idea how to use it in teaching. So far! You know, this is something that makes the paper / the book / the photo / the picture alive. Sounds cool and it is.It needs quite a lot of practice and also preparation but I'm sure I will try it on one of my lessons.

ICT Brave Teachers

Második nap a bátor tanárokkal :)

Csoportunk neve a bejegyzés címe. Nem is tudom, miért ez lett. Mivel ez a második hete a kurzusnak, az olaszok pedig már itt voltak múlt héten, ők tudnának válaszolni rá.

Today we're working on our mobile phones. First, we did another QR Code exercise showing us how many different types of tasks we could include in one simple QR Code reading exercise. It's really useful to see!
Now we're doing CRAM. If you sign up to www.cram.com, you can create your own study sets of vocabulary - similar to Quizlet I guess. But you can memorize the words, test yourselves and play two games with the vocabulary learnt as well.

PADLET
Really useful! This is the first time I'v met this website but I find it really cool. You can make up a topic, like travelling and organize all your stuff there, videos, articles, teaching vocab - so like adding a cram site. Everything is at one place and it's an easy access for your students.

Empowerment in ICT Skills: Making Use of Technology Tools

YORK ASSOCIATES

York városában, a York Associates nevű továbbképző központban került sor arra a kurzusra, amelyre az Erasmus+ program keretein belül pályáztam.
York gyönyörű város, hamarosan töltök fel képeket is, de az első feladatom a mai napról egyfajta visszacsatolást írni.

So here it goes.

I arrived at 7:45 to get to know the area and the people of York Associates. In my group there are 4 other colleagues - 3 from Italy (Rosaria, Rocco and Giuseppe) and 1 woman from the Czech Republic called Hana. Our trainer is Rick :)

After some coffee and introduction we started working on Google Forms. This application / site helps you create surveys, quizzes with lots of differents types of tasks. You can choose to make a multiple choice set of questions, or ask for short answers. You can add images, videos, QR codes to your quiz as well, and of course you can customize it with different background colours or images in the header.

After the break we had a session about QR Codes. We met different types of how to use the codes in the classroom. You can generate a QR code for mainly everything :) For instance, you want to show a video to your students and you want them to work individually at their own pace, you just give them the code printed, maybe even some questions with it, and let them use their code reader application. They will probably enjoy it much better than just reading a text on a piece of paper.

Amikor Anglia felé repülve kinézünk az ablakon..

Október 27-én keltünk útra Pintér Tünde kolléganőmmel  a 6:30-as Ryanair járattal Manchesterbe. Korán keltünk, fáradtak voltunk, ugyanakkor izgatottan vártuk a továbbképzést!
Tünde Exeterbe repült tovább a manchesteri repülőtérről egy Mobile Pedagogy című továbbképzésre, amíg indult a gépe, én pedig a vonatra várakoztam, még ittunk egy utolsó kávét, mielőtt elváltak útjaink..
